Arctic Aurora is an intimate riverside cottage on the banks of the Simojoki – Finland’s only free-flowing salmon river – at the edge of the Ranua wilderness. With one bedroom and a sofa bed, it is made for couples and small families who want a quiet base close to nature.
The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay: a fully equipped kitchen with stove, oven and dishwasher, TV, and an air-source heat pump for heating in winter and cooling in summer. The traditional wood-heated sauna is the heart of the cottage – after the steam, take a refreshing dip in the clean river straight from the private pier.
Outside, the terrace and balcony open towards the river and the northern sky, offering a front-row seat to the aurora borealis on clear winter nights. A barbecue hut in the yard is perfect for evenings by the fire, and fishing equipment and games are available for guests.
Ranua Wildlife Park, home to polar bears and the wildlife of the north, is just a 15-minute drive away. Rovaniemi and Santa Claus Village are within an hour.
